About Jentera

INDONESIA JENTERA SCHOOL OF LAW

A primary obstacle in doing business in Indonesia is a fundamental lack of legal certainty. At its heart, this is a human resources issue, specifically one where law graduates, once introduced into the workforce, feel unable to challenge inefficient systems and institutions. We feel that this is a substantial public sector challenge faced by the Indonesian Government in its efforts to continue nation-wide bureaucratic reforms.

This human resources issue is also prevalent in the private sector, where firms and companies often cite a necessity to invest in a substantial in-house training regime to get fresh graduates up to the standards of best practices.

Such under-preparedness of Indonesian law graduates in the public and private spheres is, in our view, the result of a growing gap between law faculty curricula and real world demands made on legal services. More and more, this gap has extended to a deficit in the quality of legal knowledge of fresh graduates, which shows that students are not adequately exposed to such demands in the academic context.
